A divergent lens of focal length 30 cm forms the image of an object of size 6 cm on same side as the object at a distance of 15 cm from optical centre.Use lens formula to determine the distance of the object from the lens and size of image formed and also draw the ray diagram?

Hi Vikas,

The following steps are to be followed:

1) Take focal length as negative (divergent lens), object size is given

2) It is mentioned image is on the same side of the object. So, take image distance as negative.

3) Use lens formula to find object distance 'u'. It should be negative.

4) Use magnification formula to find the height of the image.
