A cricketer can throw a ball to a maximum horizontal distance of 100m. How much high above the ground can the cricketer throw the same ball?

Maximum horizontal range for projectile motion when projection angle is 45° = u2 /g   = 100 m .................(1)
 
where u is projection speed.
 
maximum height h, when the ball is vertically thrown = u2 /(2g)  ...............(2)
 
using eqn.(1), we get maximum height from eqn.(2)  as  50 m
