Volume of full cone = (1/3)10πr2 cm3
 
volume of top cone that has half of initial height = (1/3)(5/4)πr2 cm3 ......................(1)
 
( volume of top portion is calculated as above, because radius also half of its initial value)
 
volume of bottom portion = (1/3)πr2 [10 - (5/4)] = (1/3)πr2(35/4) cm3 .....................(2)
 
ratio of volume of top part of the cone to that of bottom part = begin mathsize 12px style fraction numerator begin display style bevelled 5 over 4 end style over denominator begin display style bevelled 35 over 4 end style end fraction space equals space 1 over 7 end style
