Expert Answer
The light rays coming from the coin goes through refraction as it moves from a optical denser medium (water ) to optically rarer medium (air) , therefore, the light rays moves away from the normal. Which when reaches the eye of the observer , the observer consider the object to be in the straigt line ,hence the coin appears to be higher than its actual postion.
