ICSE Class 9 Answered
A bullet fired with speed 100 ms-1 travels 500 m in air.Assuming the air fmingmriction to be constant, calculate the retardation prodced by the air.and how much velocity of bullet after 1.2 s of motion?
Its velocity is coming 488 Please tell me how it come

Expert Answer
If we apply the equation, v2 = u2-2aS , we can get retardation a .
In this equation v is final speed which is zero hero because the bullet is stopped at end,
u is inital speed and S is distance travelled before bullet is stopped
hence retardation a = u2 / ( 2S) = (100×100)/(2×500) = 10 m/s2
velocity after 1.2s, v = u - a t = 100 - (10×1.2) = 88 m/s
