To cross the train coming in opposite direction of length 700 m , distance D travelled by train of length 300 m is
given as
 
D = ( 300 + 700 ) m = 1000 m
 
since the trains are moving in opposite direction with equal speed 90 km/hr ,
 
relative velocity of each train with respect to other is (90+90) km/hr = 180 km/hr = 180 × (5/18) = 50 m/s
 
Time taken to cross each other = distance / time = 1000 m / 50 m/s = 20 s
