Homologous series of unsaturated hydrocarbons having more than 4 carbon atoms.
      1-Pentene
          1- Hexene

Carbon is denoted by the chemical formula C.

If you see, there are no numbers after the symbol but when you look at the chemical formula of chlorine (Cl2), there is a number 2 after the symbol.

The number 2 indicates the number of atoms.

So carbon is monoatomic and chlorine is diatomic.
