Why is the direction of the current in an electric motor reversed after every half round

Answer:
This is due to split ring commutator. Suppose in the first half the two ends of the coil are in contact with each one of the ring. In the second half, the two ends of the coil get displaced and come in contact with another split ring. And therefore the direction of current is reversed.
