Expert Answer
The water at the top of the falls possesses potential energy.
When this water falls to the base it is converted into kinetic energy and when it hits the base it is converted to heat.
Now, this heat is carried to the bottom of the falls and the top surface has newly fallen colder water.
So, the water at the bottom of the falls will be slightly warmer than the water at the top.
