Expert Answer
Quantisation means assigning a fixed discrete value to charge. It cannot have any random number.
Quantisation of charge means that charge can have only an integer multiple of the fixed standard elementary value 'e'.
Thus, an object's charge can have values like -2e, -1e, 0, 1e, 2e, etc., but not, say, 1⁄2e, or −1.5e, etc.
To understand in terms of other standard quantity say 'mass (m)' we know that mass can take any arbritary value 1 g, 0.01 g, 100.5 g, etc. So, mass is not quantised. But, charge is quantised.
