CBSE Class 10 Answered
Q. A Coil of insulated copper wire is connected to a galvanometer. What will happen if a bar magnet is :
a) Pushed into the coil.
b) Withdrawn from the coil.
c) Held stationary near the coil.
Draw diagarm to represent each situation and explain the deflection in the galvanometer.

Expert Answer
When the bar magnet is pushed into the coil or withdrawn from the coil there will be a deflection in the galvanometer.
This is because of the induced current in the coil which is generated due to the relative motion between the coil and magnet.
When held stationary near the coil there is no relative motion and so no current is induced in the coil.
