speed of thief's car = 126 km/hr = 35 m/s ;  speed of police car =36 km/hr = 10 m/s

speed of firing of bullet = 200 m/s ;   travelling speed of bullet = 200+10 = 210 m/s

let t seconds after firing, the bullet hits the thief's car.

Since initial gap of distance between police and thief is 200 m, we write,

35×t + 200 = 210×t ;

since the above equation has solution t = (8/7) s, we can say that the bullet hits the thief's car (8/7) second after firing
