I have studied about the co enzyme a,
while studying that i came to know about acetlyl CoA.
Its mentioned in the literasture that Co A is a mercaptan .
what i want to know is ,what is a mercaptan...and what is the significance of both Co A and acetly CoA.

Mercaptan is an organic sulfur compound composed of an alkyl or aryl group. Mercaptan is another term for thiol. Formula: CH4S
Examples: The amino acid cysteine is a mercaptan.
 
Significance:
Acetyl CoA or Acetyl coenzyme A is a very important molecule in metabolism. It is used in many biochemical reactions. Its main function is to convey the carbon atoms within the acetyl group to the Krebs cycle or Citric acid cycle to be oxidised for energy production.
