How does the rule of law effect democracy?

According to the Rule of law, every citizen irrespective of his/her religion, caste, class or gender is equal before law and is accountable to teh system as per laws. This is a basic basic feature of democracy. Rule of law allows a system of just administration where the sovereign power promises a people oriented government with people having ultimate power. The governemtn cannot give any unfair advantage to a group in a country. The rule of law ensures that everyone is treated the fairly and playing by the same rules. This is a basic pillar of democracy.
