Does pressure have a magnitude only or magnitude and direction also, and if m is mass of an object and it rests on area of surface a then the pressure exerted by the object on the surface a is mg/a pascal or mg/a^2 pascal

Pressure is a scalar quantity. Hence, it is described by magnitude only.
Pressure is defined as force per unit area.
P = F/A
Now, force is the weight of the object which is equal to mg. So, pressure is
P = mg/a
