Equation given below gives the relation between object and image distance in terms of refractive index of the medium
and the radius of curvature of the curved spherical surface.

(n2/v) - (n1/u) = ( n2 - n1)/R  .....................(1)

where n2 is the refractive index of medium where image is formed, v is the imge-to-spherical surface distance,
n1 is the refractive index of of medium where light ray incident on spherical surface and R is radius of curvature of spherical surface.

Using the  eqn.(1), we have,   (1/v) + (1.5/12) = (1-1.5)/(-2)  ...................(2)

In the above eqn.(2), cartesian sign convention is followed, hence u is negative and radius of curvature is negative.

Hence from eqn.(2), we get, (1/v) = (1/4) - (1/8) = 1/8   or v = 8 cm

image is formed right side of spherical surface at a distance 8 cm
