Let us factorise the polynomial :   6x²+17x +12 .............(1)

we need to get two numbers, so that their sum is 17 and product 6×12=72. The numbers are 8 and 9

hence the polynomial given in (1) is rewritten,  6x2+8x+9x+12  = 2x(3x+4) +3(3x+4) = (3x+4)(2x+3)

Hence begin mathsize 12px style fraction numerator open parentheses 6 x squared plus 17 x plus 12 close parentheses over denominator open parentheses 3 x plus 4 close parentheses end fraction space equals space fraction numerator open parentheses 3 x plus 4 close parentheses begin display style open parentheses 2 x plus 3 close parentheses end style over denominator open parentheses 3 x plus 4 close parentheses end fraction space equals space open parentheses 2 x plus 3 close parentheses end style
