Let present age of the son be x years and Suhas's age be y years.
4 years ago Suhas's age was y - 4 years and that of his son is x - 4 years.
According to the condition,
y - 4 = 3(x - 4)
y - 4 = 3x - 12
3x - y = 8......(i)
Also,
x - 4 + y - 4 = 48
x + y = 48......(ii)
Adding (i) and (ii)
4x = 56
x = 14
x + y = 48
14 + y = 48
y = 34
Hence, present age of Suhas's is 34 years and that of his son is 14 years.
