4/7 part of a pole is under ground. When 1/4 of this part is pulled out , 2 1/2meters of the pole is still under ground . Whatis the full length of the pole?

2/3 + 3/4 = ?  As per my calculations, it should be 17/12. However, the answer to this was shown as 17/8 in the important questions section.  Kindly clarify
