1--Why does the cord of an electric heater not glow while the heating element does ??
2--what determines the rate at which energy is delivered by a current ??

1-The heating element glows because it has very high resistance and hence large heat is dissipated by the resistor whereas the chord of an electrical heater is made up of the material which has low resistance and hence less amount of heat dissipated.
2-Power of an electrical appliance determines the rate at which energy is delivered by a current.
3-Copper does not react with cold water, hot water, or steam. However, iron reacts with steam. If the hot water tanks are made of steel (an alloy of iron), then iron would react vigorously with the steam formed from hot water. That is why copper is used to make hot water tanks, and not steel
