Roadways still have edge over railways because of the following reasons:
- Roads provide door to door services
- Roadways help in transporting goods adn people to those regions where railways have not been laid down
- The construction and maintenance cost is lower than those of the railways
- It connect small villages to towns and post towns facilitating the movement of goods
- Transporting goods to shorter distance is easier through roadways than to railways
