ICSE Class 10 Answered
1) the momentum of a football and a tennis ball is the same. do they have the same kinetic energy?explain?

Expert Answer
kinetic energy = (1/2)mv2 = (1/2) (mv)2/m = (1/2) p2/m
where m is mass, v is velocity, p is momentum (p=mv)
Since tennis ball anfd foot ball has same momentum, kinetic energy of tennis ball is greater than
that of football because mass of football is greater than tennis ball
