Three measures taken by the government to repress the movement started against the Rowlatt Act were:
- The British government brutally repressed the movement , humiliated and terrorise the people in various ways.
- People were forced to rub their nose on the ground, crawl on the strrets and had to salute all British officers.
- The nationalists were beaten and villages were bombed.
