Given:
Mass of organic compound = 0.5 g
The residual acid required 30 ml of 0.5 M NaOH for complete neutralisation.
30 ml 0.5 M NaOH solution = 30/2 ml of 0.5 H2SO4
= 15 ml of of 0.5 H2SO4
Acid consumed during the absorption of evolved ammonia = 25-15
= 10 ml
10 ml of 0.5 M H2SO4 = 20 ml 0.5 M NH3
As 1000 ml of 1 M NH3 contains 14 g of nitrogen
So, 20 ml 0.5 M NH3 will contain =
Percentage of nitrogen =
The percentage composition of nitrogen in the organic compound is 28 %.
