(a) The material of the rod is brittle because there is no significant plastic region beyond eleastic limit. For brittle materials, the breaking point lies close to the elastic limit.
(b) In the linear part of the graph a stress of 7.25 × 108 pa corresponds to a strain of 0.01.
Therefore the corresponding Young's modulus of the material corresponding to this graph is:
