The length of the pendulum bar or rod of a pendulum clock increases during summer becauses when the temperature increases pendulum rod  expands and is longer .This has an effect of
increasing the period of the pendulum, as the its period depends on the length of the pendulum bar or rod.
Period T = 2 straight pi square root of straight l over straight g end root
Due to this the clock runs slower than normal and loses time.
