Wow, Okay, This Could Be Big - Scientists Make Gas Out Of Air And Water
A man studies his company's new "gas from air and water" machine while trying to hide his raging science boner.
So, you know how we’re running out of oil and this could lead to the downfall of modern society and oh God, oh God, it’s time to start building your bunker right now?!
Well uh, hold on a minute — some scientists in England have succeeded in making gasoline out of thin air (more or less). Engineers at a small British company called Air Fuel Synthesis, have managed to create around five litres of gasoline by combining the carbon dioxide from air and the hydrogen from water. These two ingredients were put in a reactor and methanol came out the other end. This methanol was then converted into gasoline.
So yeah, gas from air and water. Oh, and did you catch that part about carbon dioxide being one of the ingredients? That’s right, this process would not only give us free gas, but would also use up excess CO2 in the atmosphere. In other words, a method of producing gas that would also clean up the effects of burning said gas. Holy s–t.
Air Fuel Synthesis says they’re looking to set up larger commercial-sized gas producing plants. I have a feeling these guys aren’t going to have much trouble finding funding. That or they’ll be murdered by oil industry assassins. Either or.
