The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, has been declared as an institution of national importance by an Act of Parliament. It is one of the best institutions in India for medical students. AIIMS institutes are located in various parts of the country such as Delhi, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur and Rishikesh. AIIMS, Delhi, is under the All India Institute of Medical Sciences Act, 1956.

Admission Procedure: An entrance exam is held to select suitable candidates. The entrance exam for 2015 will be held in June and will be a computer-based test (CBT) only.

2. Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore

The institute is well known in India and has many achievements in its list. It started the first college of nursing in India, performed the first reconstructive surgery for leprosy in the world, performed the first successful open heart surgery, performed the first kidney transplant and bone marrow transplant, and performed the first successful ABO incompatible kidney transplant.
