Here is the list of the top five engineering branches which you can make your career in.

Chemical Engineering

Chemical Engineering is an application-based course where raw materials or chemicals are converted into more useful or valuable forms. This course when compared with other branches is offered by very few colleges. It is known to be one of the toughest branches and requires a lot of hardwork. This branch further enables various specialisation options such as environmental, construction, transport and geo-technical engineering.

Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering is one of the important and core branches of engineering. Job availability is also excellent after graduation. Civil Engineering involves the detail study of design construction and maintenance of the naturally built environments. So, if you are interested in drawing sketches, then this course is perfect for you. As a chemical engineer, you can work in both manufacturing and service industries such as plastics, power production, biotechnology and chemicals. Also, if you have sound knowledge in management skills, then you may start your own business venture.

Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical engineers are required by almost all industries. So, you can easily determine the job prospects of this course. Mechanical Engineering is all about design, analysis and usage of heat and mechanical power of machines and mechanical systems. Nowadays, a mechanical engineer plays a very important role in the agricultural field as well; they undertake maintenance programmes of agricultural equipment. Students with a mechanical degree have a good scope outside India as well.

Electrical Engineering

Electrical Engineering is a study of the applications of electricity, electronics and electromagnetism. The course usually deals with the study of the diverse usage of electricity and instruments which yield power. In short, the syllabus is all about circulation, transmission and generation of electrical power. The benefit of this field is that if you don’t wish to work with a company, then you can involve yourself in research by joining a research laboratory or institute.

Electronics and Communication

This branch deals with electronic devices and software interfaces. Engineers of this field have to ensure safety, installation and functioning of various mechanisms. If your interest lies in repairing and developing electronic communication systems, then a degree in Electronics and Communication may be right for you.

Students who don’t know which branch to select should go for a good college. This does not mean that colleges which accept low grades during admission are bad. All that is important here is that if you have to make a choice, then choose a better college over a better engineering branch.
