Here are the men who gave up their lives for the safety of the nation during the Pathankot terror attack.

Lt Col Niranjan Kumar

National Security Guards commando Lt Col Niranjan Kumar was among the 6 martyrs who were killed in the ongoing gunfight against Pakistani terrorists at the Pathankot airbase. Niranjan was the head of the elite bomb squad. He died while defusing a live grenade from the body of a terrorist.   

Subedar Major Fateh Singh

Former Commonwealth champion shooter and mentor Subedar Major Fateh Singh died in the heavy exchange of fire. In 1995, Subedar had won gold and silver in the Commonwealth Shooting Championship in New Delhi.   

Corporal Gursewak Singh

Corporal Gursewak Singh, a follower of Bhagat Singh, had joined the Indian Air Force soon after completing his graduation. He died while saving the air base from the terrorist troop. 

Hawaldar Kulwant Singh

Hawaldar Kulwant Singh, another brave heart from Gurdaspur district of Punjab, joined the army at the age of 19. He retired in 2004, but he had joined the Defence Security Corps in 2006.

Hawaldar Jagdish Chand

Hawaldar Jagdish Chand was working in the kitchen as a cook when the terrorist attacked. He managed to kill one terrorist in the kitchen itself with his own rifle. However, he died when another terrorist fired bullets at him.

Hawaldar Sanjeev Singh Rana

Hawaldar Sanjeev Singh Rana died on the very first day of the terrorist attack due to five bullet injuries. His father Rattan Rana was also in the army. This young dynamic soldier will always be remembered as a hero of our nation.
