Students who failed CBSE Class 9 and Class 11 get another chance

Students of CBSE Class 9 and Class 11 who couldn’t get promoted to the next class, now have an opportunity to change it. The CBSE board has asked the schools to conduct a final test and promote students based on the result. Last month, the board had also promoted all students up to class 8.

"The schools can conduct either online or offline exams for the failed class 9, 11 students. This one time opportunity is being extended only in current year in view of the unprecedented condition of COVID-19," CBSE Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj said.

The board clarified that the move was taken only because of the COVID-19 situation that nobody had anticipated and this benefit won’t continue in the future.

The board also emphasized that this opportunity should be given to all students who need it, even if they had already appeared for an exam.

Due to the nationwide lockdown, universities and schools are shut since March 16 which disrupted many exams and entrances. In the phased relaxations of the lockdown, the government plans on opening these institutions gradually.
