The two-step IIT JEE process will soon be changed into a single entrance test system to reduce administration hassles and selection delays.

The two-step exam process which comprises IIT JEE (Main) and IIT JEE (Advanced) was introduced in 2012 and will be reviewed again by a special committee.

JEE was divided into two phases to eliminate non-serious students in the first phase, thereby making the selection process easier. However, according to teachers and students, the system has become more cumbersome than convenient.

One entrance test will lead to common counselling and will also cut down on the number of vacant seats.
