Seven Tips to Prepare for NEET

Students planning to appear for the medical entrance exam this year should be aware of the changed pattern to implement a proper preparation plan. After a lot of discussion and debate, the Supreme Court has concluded that AIPMT will no longer be the primary exam for admission to all medical colleges. Therefore, from 2016, NEET will be the one common exam for all private and government-funded medical colleges.

So far, the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) had 200 questions in 50 questions each in Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. The National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET), on the other hand, will have 45 questions each in all the four sections comprising 180 questions and will carry ¼ negative marking.

Here, we list seven tips which will help you prepare well for your exam.

1. As the exam is conducted by CBSE, getting thorough with NCERT is a must. Make sure that you go through each concept mentioned in the NCERT books.

2. There are some differences in the CBSE syllabus for Class 11 and Class 12 compared to NEET. So, make sure you compare both syllabi and prepare accordingly. Don’t miss out on important topics.

3. Practise with many previous year question papers to get a closer look at what can be possibly asked in the question paper along with getting familiar with the marking scheme of the paper.

4. Try not to ignore any topic because you never know whether the ones you consider less important might turn out to be very important in the exam.

5. Get thorough with the basics and the foundation of every particular topic you prepare.

6. Be confident and careful about what you attempt because negative marking can put you in trouble.

7. Most important, take care about your time management because you have to complete the whole paper within 3 hours. So, constantly monitor your performance and the amount of time you take to solve a sample paper.

All you need to do now is stay focused and confident about your preparation and everything else will fall into place.
