There was a last-minute policy change which did not allow COVID-positive and students from quarantine zones to write the exam. A second chance was given to them. On October 12, the NTA told Supreme Court that NEET Phase 2 exam will be conducted for these students on October 14 and the combined result of NEET 2020 will be released on October 16.

Along with the national ranking list, state-based colleges will also release their own cut-off. Since last year, top medical colleges AIIMS and JIPMER are also accepting students based on the NEET score. Previously these colleges had their own entrance test. Every medical college has 15 per cent seats reserved under the All India quota (AIQ) which are filled centrally while the rest are filled by the respective state.
