NEET pushed by a year for government medical colleges
Thanks to the President, aspiring medical students can breathe a much needed sigh of relief.
President Pranab Mukherjee recently signed an ordinance to push by a year the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for medical and dental courses for all state educational boards across India.
This year, the state boards will organise their own common entrance test for admission to government medical colleges. However, students seeking admissions to private medical colleges will have to appear for NEET, which will be held on 24 July.
The Supreme Court had earlier ordered the state boards to follow NEET from this year. This had caused a lot of stress among aspiring medical students.
