NEET date to be postponed?

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET-UG is an entrance examination in India for students who wish to pursue any graduate medical course (MBBS), dental course (BDS) or postgraduate course in government or private medical colleges in India.

The Supreme Court recently revoked its decision of cancelling the exam, and now students who have prepared for the common entrance test (CET) are in a soup. The NEET Phase 2 exam was initially supposed to be held on 24 July this year. However, speculations are rife that this date may be postponed.

CBSE will conduct NEET and will declare the combined results of both Phase 1 and 2 on 17 August. The online counselling for the allotment of MBBS and BDS seats (15% of all-India seats) will be from 17 August to 30 September.

AIPMT 2016 which was conducted on 1 May will be treated as NEET 2016 Phase 1 according to the NEET 2016 schedule. Candidates irrespective of whether they answered NEET 2016 Phase 1/AIPMT 2016 will have to answer the second stage of NEET. Over six lakh students had appeared for the first exam.

NEET has been reintroduced to battle the ongoing corruption taking place on a large scale during admissions to medical colleges.
