With the State Board schools performance debacle now out in the open, the Maharashtra government is working on rectifying the situation. Activity-based learning and changes in assessment patterns are some measures the state plans to take to bring the score to a minimum 300 by the next survey. Under this initiative, the state will categorise  bigger schools in a particular region as ‘mother schools’, and these will be responsible for checking how regularly students in the vicinity are attending school. The step is expected to be instrumental in minimizing dropout rates at the secondary level.
