Question Paper Structure
For this academic year 2021-22, ICSE followed a reduced syllabus released on its official website. The ICSE Class 10 Physics (Science I) Semester 2 question paper comprised two sections, A and B. Section A covered 10 MCQs of one mark each. Section B covered four subjective type questions carrying ten marks each, out of which three questions were to be attempted.
Both sections were based on Sound, Electricity and magnetism, Heat and Modern Physics units. Questions on the Sound unit were based on topics of Natural vibrations, Damped vibrations, Forced vibrations and Resonance - a particular case of forced oscillations, loudness, pitch and quality of sound.
Students' and Experts' Feedback
ICSE Class 10 Physics (Science I) Semester 2 has mixed reactions from students. According to some students, the paper was easy, while some stated that it was moderate. Some students were confused about answers to a few questions. However, teachers and experts said that the Physics paper was reasonable yet manageable. Students also felt that the exam was lengthy, but they could write answers within the stipulated time. We, too, think that some questions were of a moderate level and needed detailed conceptual understanding. Students with a thorough knowledge of the units of 'Electricity and Magnetism' and 'Heat' would find this paper very scoring.
