ICSE Board Modifies Rules to Avoid Cheating in the Exam

The answer sheets in the ICSE and ISC exams will have photographs and other identification details of students appearing for the exam to ensure transparency and smooth conduct of the exam.

Until 2015, examinees had to write their names and unique identification numbers (UIDs) along with the name of the subject on the answer sheet. From 2016, the portion on the top of the front sheet of the booklet will bear the name and photograph and will be torn off and retained by the council before the answer sheets are distributed for evaluation. This will be done to ensure confidentiality.

The booklet an examiner will receive will bear a student’s UID. The results will be prepared by matching the UID with the corresponding names in the council database. This new system is aimed at preventing mistakes committed by students while writing their names and UIDs.

The other step is aimed at speeding up the examination system and making it more transparent. The council will send the answer booklets of the students in separate packets. Each packet will have the photograph and other identity details of students printed on it.
