How to Prepare for CBSE Class 9 Science?

Science has been one of the crucial subjects since ages, as it discusses the important parts in life and in nature. It highlights concepts like innovation or discovery and provides emphasis on invention. Although the CBSE Class 9 exam is not considered a board examination, its fundamentals will be helpful throughout life and will be helpful in preparation for further studies like Class 10 and 11. It is also helpful in cracking the important competitive exams such as JEE, NTSE, NEET and other state medical exams. So, you need to learn and prepare for Science effectively and efficiently.

Before preparing for the final examination, you need to first understand the level of complexity of a particular topic and level of questions asked in the examination. Let’s understand the CBSE Class 9 Science subjects:

Sub-subjects of CBSE Class 9 Science:

1) Physics: It is one of the important subjects in Science, as some of the questions asked in the examination will also be repeated in further studies. In CBSE Class 9 Physics has some important topics such as Motion, Gravitation, Sound, Work and Energy. All topics are important and will help you to understand the concepts in further studies.  In CBSE Class 9 Science, Physics has a weightage of about 54%.

2) Chemistry: Refers to the scientific combination of properties and composition of elements. Fundamentals of this subject are also used in understanding future topics. In CBSE Class 9 Chemistry, you need to understand the concepts and formulae which will help you to excel in the examination.

3) Biology: We usually recommend CBSE Class 9 students to take this subject at the last stage as the syllabus and concepts are way too engrossing, tougher and tricky to understand as compared to the concepts of other subjects. In CBSE Class 9 Biology, topics like osmosis, diffusion and plasmolysis are tricky and should be studied first if you need to score the highest marks in this subject.

Tips to prepare for individual subjects of CBSE Class 9 Science:

1. Physics

  • Revise the concepts in a sequential order. It helps you to boost your confidence and develop interest besides saving time.
  • Jot down all the formulae with the full meaning of the variables and the SI and CGS units of each of them.
  • Revise all the fundamentals of the subject regularly.
  • Avoid learning a new concept right before the examination.

2. Chemistry:

  • Your main focus should be on the questions which have value. It means you should focus on application-based questions.
  • Complete study and revision of the complicated chapters first. If you have time later, revise the topics again.
