The Olympiad exams are around the corner. Are you prepared? These exams test you on factors such as logical reasoning and problem solving skills. Here is a quick guide to what National Science Olympiad exam is all about.
What is National Science Olympiad?
The Olympiad exams are held every year with an aim to motivate students towards education in subjects like science, mathematics and english. The exams are designed in a manner that they challenge your logical reasoning and analytical and problem-solving skills. These exams are conducted by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF).
Evaluation: Olympiad exams are evaluated by certain criteria. Every class has a separate question paper based on these criteria.
Students from Class 1 to 10 are tested in
1) Mental Ability
2) Science
3) Achiever’s Section
Students of Class 11 and 12 are tested in
1) Physics/Chemistry
2) Achiever’s Section
3) Mathematics/Biology
How to Participate: The registration forms are sent to all the eligible schools by SOF. These forms have to be filled and submitted to SOF before the due date. The National Science Olympiad (NSO) is conducted on two dates; school authorities can choose any one of the dates according to their convenience. Students are supposed to register for the Olympiad exams through their schools, as individual registrations are not allowed.
Fee: A participation fee is charged to students. The fee details are mentioned in the registration form.
Marking Scheme

Selection Process: A student has to go through two levels to qualify for the NSO scholarship/fellowship. Level 1 is conducted in schools, and students whose names feature on the merit list of Level 1 are called for Level 2. Students who crack Level 2 are offered NSO scholarships/fellowships.
