An anemometer is a device which is used to measure the speed of wind. It’s very easy to make an anemometer. Let’s take a look at the simple methods to make your own anemometer.
- Small ball
Steps to Make an Anemometer
-Thread the needle and tie a knot at the other end of the thread. The length of the thread can be about 20 cm.
-Insert the needle in the ball, pass it through the ball and remove it out from the opposite side.
-Take the protractor and tie the thread with the ball to the centre of the protractor such that the ball hangs in the middle of the protractor at 90 degrees when there’s no wind.
-Now, take the protractor outside and hold it parallel to the wind. When the wind blows the ball, record the angle reached by the thread.

The protractor will help you to record the angular deflection of the wind. You can convert the angles into distance to record the speed of the wind.
