Delhi University rectifies the Choice Based Credit Scheme

Last year, Delhi University (DU) had introduced a grading pattern called the Choice Based Credit Scheme (CBCS). However, instead of benefiting students, it turned out to be their worst nightmare as their grades suffered massively.

The new marking system did not take individual performances into account and grades were awarded on the basis of the average score of the class, resulting in mass failure. Keeping all this in mind, DU has decided to revise the grading pattern.

After the first semester results were out, students would have to garner more than 100% marks to get the top O (Outstanding) grade in some subjects. Students were angry and devastated over their results as impossible expectations were placed upon them.

Examiners will now have to convert absolute marks into letter grades and grade points through a University Grants Commission devised formula. This amendment will surely bring tremendous relief among students in DU.
