The admissions to Delhi University colleges have been postponed by a week due to the confusion surrounding Four Year Undergraduate Programmes (FYUP). The face-off between Delhi University and University Grant Commission (UGC) has not yet been resolved, and it is now affecting the students as well.
Despite declaring the first merit list, many colleges under Delhi University have deferred the admission process until the FYUP issue is resolved.
A meeting was also held between HRD minister Smriti Irani, Education secretary Ashok Thakur and UGC Chairperson Ved Prakash. UGC is against the concept of FYUP, and it has issued a directive to Delhi University to scrap the idea of FYUPs and revert to three-year duration courses.
Amidst all this, the students are confused and worried as around 36 colleges have announced that they will not start the admission process unless the issue is resolved.
