The Central Board of Education (CBSE) is all set to start the evaluation of the board exam answer sheets from today i.e. 10/05/2020 (Sunday). After stalling the corrections for some time and looking at the current situation, the Home Ministry finally gave permission for the papers to be corrected.

This is the first time ever that the papers will be corrected from the homes of the qualified evaluators and not at designated centres. This entire process is supposed to take 50 days as almost 18 lakh Class 10 students and 10 lakh Class 12 students are awaiting results. HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said 1.5 crore answer sheets in 173 subjects would be evaluated soon. According government sources, permission has been granted for all areas except containment zones.

The HRD ministry also announced that the pending Class 10 and Class 12 exams will be held in July. An official board member announced, “While the exams for 12 subjects of class 12 will be held across the country, the exams for class 10 will be held only in north-east Delhi, where some of the tests could not be held earlier because of communal violence in the area. Overall the CBSE would conduct 29 exams.”

The engineering entrance JEE and medical entrance NEET have also been pushed till July because of COVID-19.
