CBSE tests encryption-based question papers across 32 centres

Hurray! No stories of more paper leaks and cheating scams from now onwards at least. Since the past 10 years, we have seen numerous cheating scams and paper leaks that have almost shattered the hope of hardworking students. These scams result in a delay of the examination or every student gets a specific score which results in unhappiness.

Earlier this year, paper leaks of the Mathematics Class 10 and Economics Class 12 board exams resulted in chaos across the City of Power and Influencers—New Delhi. The situation was so bad that it even lead to a Bharat Bandh by a few teachers from the Dalit community. Moreover, teachers and examination consultants complained that the examination papers do not reach exam centres on time.

Following such complaints and to solve glitches and leakage, the MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development) gave a nod to CBSE officials to test encryption-based question papers. This move was finally approved and was successfully tested on Monday (16th July 2018) across 32 centres for 11 subjects. This system will enable examination centres to maintain security, as CBSE will provide passwords only half an hour before the examination.

Speaking on the success of this move, Anurag Tripathi (CBSE Secretary) said, “The testing on the first day went well and we will keep a constant track on further improvements.” This move will help students as well as teachers to stay secure in every respect, helping them to keep rumours at bay and there will be no fear of leakage of question papers. The major objective of this move is to minimise human intervention in the delivery of exam papers. Tripathi added, “Around 10 am, we have also sent double-encrypted examination papers to some of the centres in case if they require a hard copy.”
