The question paper format was the same as the CBSE Sample Paper. Most students found the paper more straightforward than the Term 1 Physics paper and expected a good score this time.

Question Paper Pattern

Let us look at the question paper structure for the year 2021-22. CBSE Class 12 Physics Term 2 was based on ‘Electromagnetic Waves, ‘Optics’, ‘Dual Nature of Radiation and Matter’, Atoms and Nuclei and ‘Electronic Devices’.

The exam was 35 marks, and the time allotted for this paper was 120 minutes. The physics paper consisted of three sections.

  • Section A had three questions with 2 marks each
  • Section B had eight questions with 3 marks each
  • Section C had one case study-based question of 5 marks

All the questions were compulsory. However, an internal choice was provided within sections.

Key highlights

  • According to students, numerical was tricky.
  • Some students felt that the paper was more straightforward than the Term 1 Physics paper.
  • As per experts, the paper was more focused on application-based questions, while some questions were straightforward. So, all in all, it was a well-balanced paper.
  • Any score between 22 to 26 out of 35 is an excellent expected score estimate.

In conclusion, the CBSE Class 12 Physics Term 2 paper was of moderate level for an average student. Students who had practised solving numerical wouldn’t find this paper challenging. We hope that students completed the paper by adopting a proper, timely approach to answer the questions.
