CBSE Class 12 Maths 2019 Paper Analysis

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the Mathematics exam for students of Class 12 today, 18th March 2019.

The paper was very easy as most of the questions asked were taken directly from the NCERT textbook. The overall difficulty level of this 100 marks paper was easy, but few tricky questions which required more thought (or high order thinking skills) could be deemed difficult.

Also, CBSE’s decision to introduce more internal choice in questions has clearly helped students.

Question Paper Structure

  • The Mathematics paper had 29 questions in all. The paper was divided into four sections—A, B, C and D. Section A comprised 4 questions of one mark each, Section B comprised 8 questions of two marks each, Section C comprised 11 questions of four marks each and Section D comprised 6 questions of six marks each.
  • There was no overall choice. However, an internal choice had been provided in 3 questions of two marks, four marks and six marks, as well as in 1 question of 1 mark.

Comparison with the question paper of 2018

The chapter 'Integrals' had the highest marks and the number of questions, followed by 'Differential Equations' and 'Three-dimensional Geometry'.

In conclusion, the CBSE Class 12 Maths paper was an easy paper with questions taken from the solved examples or exercises of the NCERT textbook. Students who had solved questions from the textbook wouldn’t find this paper tough.

Also, practising with our sample papers diligently would have made it easy for students to answer the difficult questions and complete the slightly lengthy paper on time.

All the best From TopperLearning for the remaining exams!
