CBSE 12th Board Exams 2021: Final date sheet to be released on June 1

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is likely to conduct final exams 2021 for CBSE Class 12 between July 15th-August 26th. The results will be declared in September as per the current notification. The final date sheet of exams is expected to be released on June 1st by Education Minister Mr Ramesh Pokhriyal. Students are waiting for a decision and the government is working on the best possible solution considering the pandemic. However, there are mixed responses from the students with regards to offline examinations. Hence, a plea is passed in the Supreme Court which will be acted on June 3rd.

The government and the education board are thinking of cautious measures for conducting the examinations. Students are supposed to take the exams offline. Since the entire year, students were not able to take offline classes, the pattern of exam is likely to change. The most effective point discussed between the ministers and state secretaries are as follows:

●       The CBSE board has proposed to conduct the exam for 1.5 hours instead of 3 hours. If this point is taken into consideration then it will cause major changes in the question paper pattern.

●       It is also suggested that exams will be conducted for selected subjects only.

●       CBSE may combine the above two points and release the final call soon as the Covid-19 situation is still not under control.

The CBSE board will announce the final decision on June 1st. If the government considers taking the exams, then there are some challenges too.

The following measures are proposed in case a student appearing for exams suffers from Covid-19.

1. The CBSE  has divided the period of July 15-August 26th into two parts namely July 15th-August 1st and August 8th-28th. These are names Phase 1 and 2 respectively.

2. If a student is unable to appear for the exam, then he can appear for the exam 15 days later. The board will conduct exams on Sundays too

The government and the board are planning on holding the exams under extreme precautions. Taking experience from 2020 where the CBSE board exams were held amid precautions, however, the exams had to be canceled mid-way, Education Minister, Mr Ramesh Pokhriyal mentioned the criticality of health for both students and teachers. This year CBSE Class 10 board exams have been cancelled.

There has been a lot of discussion about planning on a non-assessment method for CBSE Class 12 2021 exam. The state government of Delhi and Maharashtra have completely opposed the idea of conducting exams with a view of rising Covid-19 cases. Each of the state governments is asked to submit their reports with detailed explanations by May 25th. The organized information will prove helpful in taking the final call.

Ministers have also suggested that students can complete inoculation before the exams. Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia stressed taking a non-exam route for assessment. He elaborated on the health risk and in agreement with the Maharashtra State Government requested to keep the health of the students and their families on priority.

Although considering the importance of the exams in higher grades, the superiors are in a tough spot to figure out ways of conducting the exams without risking health. Depending on the decision, there will be a direct impact on the entrances like JEE Main 2021 and NEET 2021.

Soon, by June 1st, the decision shall be conveyed. Taking into account the importance of exams and the health of the people involved, we hope for the best outcome.
