BU Introduces Choice Based Credit System
Bangalore University has become the first university to introduce the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS).
Bangalore University has become the first university to introduce the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in its Undergraduate and Integrated Masters Degree programmes. Only those students who have applied for admissions in BU-affiliated colleges for the year 2014–15 are eligible for CBCS.
The specialty of CBCS is such that a student gets the option of multiple exits from the course. A student can exit the course after the completion of two years, and he/she will be awarded with an Associate Degree Certificate. If a student exits the course after three years, then he/she will be awarded with a Regular Degree Certificate. If a student completes four years and exits, then he/she will be awarded with an Honours Degree. On completion of five years, the student will be awarded with the Masters Certificate.
There are about 650 colleges affiliated to BU, and the colleges will follow CBCS from this academic year.
